The Gallery of Regrettable Food

This week has been a whirlwind of activity on the new SCS How-to Video Series, and as such, I am a bit behind with regular posts!  So, here is my gift of apology to my regular readers: a link to one of the funniest web sites I've ever seen.

Looks like someone's throwing a party! From the Gallery of Regrettable FoodI've been a fan of the Gallery of Regrettable Food for quite some time.  The first time I read it, I literally laughed so hard I cried. Oh. And I was at work. Do not look at this web site if you're at work, unless it's the sort of place where it's acceptable to laugh/cry at your desk.  Humorist James Lileks' witty commentary on mid-twentieth century epherma (mostly promotional cookbooks) is a fantastic way to blow away an hour.

Why do I love The Gallery so much?  Because it wraps several favorite things into one package:
- Food
- Cultural history (I find old ads and promo items fascinating. They're such an interesting reflection of attitudes in a given time period. Your husband's away at war? Well missy, better keep those hands soft with Palmolive otherwise he won't stay when he comes back!)
- Snark

So while there were no cocktail recipes or party ideas this week, I hope you'll enjoy this gift of laughter!
