The phrase "fruity cocktail" might bring images of strawberry daiquiris and piña coladas, but fruity cocktails aren't just for poolside sipping...fall fruits translate well into autumn cocktail menus. Here are three for you to try:
Candy Apple (by Jonathan Pogash)
1 1/2 oz. vodka (Russian Standard recommended)
1 oz. Fresh apple cider
1/2 oz. Apple liqueur
1/4 oz. Simple syrup
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake very well. Strain over ice into an old-fashioned glass. Garnish with a caramel covered apple slice
Pumpkin Punch
You can serve this by the glass, or punch-style in a large pumpkin
2 oz. rum (Flor de Caña recommended)
4 Sugar cubes
3 oz. Club soda
1 oz. Lemon juice
1 ½ oz. Pumpkin puree
Dash of all spice
Muddle four sugar cubes with lemon juice. Add rum, pumpkin puree, and a dash of all spice and a cinnamon stick. Top with club soda. Garnish with an apple slice.
Sour Witch (by Jonathan Pogash)
1 1/2 oz. absinthe (Lucid is one brand available in the states)
3/4 oz. Almond Syrup
1/2 oz. Fresh lime juice
3 or 4 Pitted sour cherries
Splash Cremant d’Alsace
In the bottom of a mixing glass, muddle the sour cherries in the lime juice and almond syrup. Add the absinthe with ice and shake very well. Top with sparkling wine or champagne. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and a lemon wedge.

I wish I was a liquor drinker because all three of these sound delicious! Unfortunately, bad things happen when I mix with liquor...so I'll just have to pretend while sipping my wine. Thanks for the ideas!
Great writing, I have been waiting for that!!
