Any big city is bound to be full of beautiful hotels.  Chicago is no exception, however, how many hotels can boast not only gorgeous appointments and great service, but also a storied past?

That would be The Blackstone, a recently renovated 100 year old gem in the South Loop.  Once the site of crime conventions, the origin of the phrase "smoke filled room", and Al Capone's favorite barbershop, these days the only gangsters to be seen are hanging in the art gallery - subjects of the "Outlaw" exhibit by graffiti artist Kaves.

The Blackstone is also the location of the backroom deal in 1944 that put Harry Truman on the Democratic Presidential Ticket with FDR. If you can find that room, please let me know.
