Easy craft: Ice-Cream Cone Balloons
Monday, August 16, 2010 at 11:25AM |
Jen @ SecondCitySoiree From Martha Stewart's Crafts Department blog comes this charming and simple party decorating idea...ice cream cone balloons, made with small balloons and craft paper cones! They don't give how-to ideas, but I imagine you could use double sided tape or glue dots to adhere the cones to the balloons. So cute!

Darn that Martha! I've actually done this before (although I've forgotten about it and never have featured it on my blog!!). I tied fishing line to the tied helium balloon. Then I dropped the line down through a teeny tiny opening at the base of the premade paper cone, knotted the line and secured it with a dab of hot glue. I just held the cone in place tight against the balloon until the glue dried and didn't even need the double back tape. (for the record, and no offense to the beloved Ms. Stewart, the cones I made looked a little more "authentic" by cutting around the edges of the paper w/ scalloped or wavy scissors and using paper with a lightly printed brown) waffle/grid background.) Either way, it IS a super cute idea and fun, easy decor for a summertime party!
So the only glue you used was at the base of the cone? Good to know...thanks for sharing, Robyn!
How did you do this? What cone did you use for the Ice Balloons.
Best,
Linda
