Over the weekend I attended the launch of the ten city Buick Regal Discovery Tour. Presented by Food & Wine and Travel + Leisure magazines, this fun afternoon included a test drive behind the wheel of the slick 2011 Regal, travel tips by T+L's Stirling Kelso, cake ball making by Michelle Garcia of Bleeding Heart Bakery, a mixology lecture by Michael Green, and capped off by a cooking demonstration and tasting by celeb chef Marcus Samuelsson. Wow, what an afternoon!
Here's one of the many delicious things we sampled:
Ginger Gin Sour Cocktail
by Michael Green
1.5 oz gin*
2 oz green tea
1 oz ginger simple syrup (recipe below)
1 oz fresh lime juice
1 one inch square of candied ginger for garnish
Fill a rocks glass with ice. Add gin, green tea, ginger simple syrup, and lime juice.
*Omit gin and double the amount of green tea to make this a mock-tail. Stir, and garnish with candied ginger
Ginger Simple Syrup
Add, to a saucepan:
1/2 cup finely sliced Fresh Ginger
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
Stir and simmer for 15 minutes. Let cool overnight at room temperature, then strain out the ginger. Makes 1 cup, and can be stored up to four weeks in a bottle.
Still not enough? Ok, how about a GIVEAWAY?
Win a copy of Marcus Samuelsson's book, New American Table
