How to Incorporate CHICAGO into your Wedding Day!

Charlene Liang - Weddings Mondays are "contributor days" at Second City Soiree. This week we introduce yet another fabulous contributor...wedding and event planner Charlene Liang of Sweetchic Events!
Since this is my first guest post on Second City Soiree, I thought, what better way to kick things off than to offer ideas on how to incorporate our fabulous Windy City into your wedding?
Chicago themed wedding invitations are SO cute and add a level of anticipation for your guests, especially if many of them are coming from out of town!

Traffic in town can be terrible (not to mention parking a nightmare). Hire an old-fashioned trolley to transport your bridal party and guests from the ceremony to the reception.

We have one of the best skylines in the world, so why not incorporate it into the design of the day? Use it on everything from your invitations, to ceremony programs, menus, or even a custom gobo.

Instead of traditional table numbers, you can name your tables after your favorite Chicago attractions. Use complimentary postcards to serve as table markers.

With upscale restaurants such as Alinea, Tru, and Graham Elliot, we have a lock on innovative food. But don't overlook our traditional offerings! Host your rehearsal dinner somewhere like Gino’s East for some Chicago style deep dish… or surprise your guests at the end of your reception with a Chicago-style hot dog cart. (Just remember to skip the ketchup!)

Who doesn’t love Garrett’s popcorn, available in cute favor-sized pouches?

Or how about commemorating your wedding date and city with a unique poster from Alexander & Co, which you can customize with your names, date, wedding venue, colors, fonts, and even hair color (if your chosen print features people)! Super cool and vintage… I want one too!

A word to the wise… a few Chicago-themed touches are sweet, but trying to incorporate all of them would be overkill! Pick your absolute faves for maximum impact. Have fun!
